Those magic green beans, roasted to a medium dark to dark & ground into a mystical powder, aromatic & earthy, brewed into black gold.
The skies were splitting last night, furious and wild with rage. Lights flashed across the dark infinity. Lightening bolts were being etched into the black and cloudy canvas. The clouds burst, water pouring out of them, as if weeping for a long lost love.
Amidst all the theatricals, I sat with a bunch of Coffee enthusiasts, sitting in the roof of Blue Tokai and spent the evening learning about that perfect brew.
Learning about french press, aeropress, pourover, coldbrews and the expresso machine. Taking a whiff of freshly roasted beans, we also sampled brews from all the methods, comparing the taste and mouth feel of each, deliberating what was stronger and more punchy.
Learning the nuances & understanding the science behind that perfect cuppa. I even managed to get behind the barista machine & try my hand at latte art.
A perfectly brewed cup of that dark mysterious potion is layered with different flavours. It takes you on a gustatory roller coaster ride!
Aromas of burnt earthiness & that of freshly mowed grass, fresh and rejuvinating! The fragrance of blossoms with flavours of burnt bark & undertones of rich chocolate and caramel, nutty and full bodied, a punch of acidity & that perfect crema on top, leaving a buttery and creamy mouthfeel. Packed with layers of complexities and a serious punch!
