Time stood still, a fleeting moment, just a flash, suspended in infinity.
Those smiles, those feelings, captured and immortalised.
Time galloped along, escaping from our hands and racing on, the clock moves like a whirlwind, tick tok, tick tok, chaining us, as it carried us along. And we were helpless captured in that time wharp. Time was always in command wasn’t it ?
Time was always in charge, with the reigns of our lives in his hands.
But in that photograph, there was that baby girl, with that innocent smile. That simple little one, happy and contented, doted upon.
The laughter was honest and innocent. The little one cocooned and protected from the crude and astringent world. Arms around her and always protected. She was kept away from the screeching and caterwauling.
She didnt know the brutality, the corrupt and manipulative world that was out there.
She looked around in wonder, a twinkle in her eye, sparkling and excited! Fresh, raw and soft. Pure and untainted. A little flower bud, absolutely unspoilt.
Time had rolled on and life had changed. She sat there looking at those old photographs and wondered how everything had gone by so fast.
It was as if just yesterday, she played innocently ,a small little midget. How had time passed by so fast?
Time stood still in those pictures, they were compositions of joy and revelry. They reminded her of her comfort zone, her happy place.
Even though life had metamorphosized, they reminded her of who she was. that she was loved and cherished. She felt at home. She wanted to hold on and press pause.
Even though she was apprehensive of what lay ahead, as time galloped and bolted, she knew that in the pictures, she was the master.
For in there, it wasn’t people trapped in time. But it was, in fact, time that was her captive.
For only there did it stop and stand still, cornered and arrested. As if captured in her snow globe and immortalised.
Only there, was time her prisoner.
Soo well written. A new perspective , a new paradigm on time!!!! My girl I didn’t know there’s soo much locked in you!!!
Beautiful! !!

It took me years to get the pictures from my childhood since I had to ask my foster sister if she was willing to hand them over. They hold such meaning, not only seeing myself in them but also my beloved foster Mother and Father. I thought they were lost to me, but thankfully, those I procured are safely tucked away, but never so hidden that I can’t take them out once in a while, and remember!
