The Inner Spark

And I sit under the tree, dimmed lights, the fairy lights twinkling and sparkling away in celebration, and as I write this, the carol of bells plays in the background.

Christmas has always been my favourite festival of all. I love the festive feel and cheer that appears during this season.

We woke this morning and started our day with some Christmas blend tea while wolfing down the freshly baked gingerbread cookies. That sweetness of the molasses perfectly balancing the spicy notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.

And after opening our presents and gorging down our rather sumptuous lunch we dozed off like little children.

I woke to the tantalising aromas of baking as the fragrance of sugar and spices travelled like vapours and tickled my nose urging me to wake. And what better way can there be?

And as I walked into the kitchen, mum pulled out the cinnamon sugar babka wreath from the oven. She also made a savoury stuffed Christmas tree shaped bread.

And now, I sit with my glass of mulled wine and carols playing in the background, I can’t help but feel this sense of tranquility inside of me. A sense of peace and serenity permeates me. For this is the day we celebrate the birth of the lord in our hearts.

And every year we celebrate and welcome him in our hearts.

And though all the outer glitter and sparkle is truly alluring, the real spark inside our hearts is even more breathtaking.

For on this day, we are reminded of the lord and his presence. To be finer humans, to be more reflective and more conscious.

Because nothing is more be beguiling and enchanting as the magic and spark that lies deep seated in our hearts.

The lustre of that spark is dazzling and blinding. The power of which is unfathomable and truly profound.
