Castaway

Nautical winds brushed against the winding branches of the Casuarina trees, gently urging them into a slow dance as they swayed  to the whistling sounds of the maritime breeze. An aura of quiescence was cast over the air, as if an invisible net, enveloping the atmosphere.

Sandy beaches that lay in wait for the gentle waves, as they frothed when they flowed into the sand. Days spent basking in the sun while watching the ocean, or while floating away in the pool.

The old town, about an hour away from the hotel was absolutely enchanting, with its brightly coloured buildings, influenced by a Portuguese style. Walls of colourful and gorgeous graffiti, artistic street shopping and some gorgeous restaurants.

We chanced upon one of the most charming ice cream parlours on Soi Romanee , with its whimsical atmosphere, bright red roses and its vintage decor, it made the perfect ambiance to escape the afternoon sun while savouring their absolutely delectable ice cream.

We also signed up for a Thai cooking class , and it was an absolute treat! The day started with a visit to the local market, where we saw various vegetables all fresh and glorious.

Mounds of curry pastes, red , green, masaman curry paste ! All aromatic and tingling the senses. fresh fish , all the kinds we could possibly think of.

We even saw a tiny but charming shop selling plants. It was an absolute treat. on getting back, we started the cooking class at our individual stations, where we made Som Tam (raw papaya salad), Pad Thai and Green Thai curry.

Every breakfast was an opulent and never ending array of the most delicious food!

And at the end of each day, i’d sit back , unwind with a glass of wine in my hand while the lady at the bar sang some beautiful old English songs. And savour the very best of island life that Phuket had to offer.
